Big Birthday Bash Card #2 - Bold Brights

Bold Brights Birthday Card!

I'm not usually a huge fan of Bold Brights and do struggle to use these colors but when the right card design comes along, they can be a lot of fun!  Here is the second card we made for my birthday bash which is a great card for any age.

Card Recipe

Stamp Set:  Circle Circus and Teeny Tiny Wishes
Cardstock:  Whisper White and Tempting Turqouise
Designer Series Paper:  Pink Flamingo
Accessories:  Real Red Grosgrain Ribbon
Colors:  Tempting Turqouise, Real Red, YoYo Yellow

I hope you enjoy these two cards and find inspiration for creating your own cards.  Feel free to case my cards and if you post to a blog, I would love to have a link back to my blog.  I always love to hear from my readers and encourage you to leave a message!

Inky Wishes,

Pam Staples

Happy Birthday

Big Birthday Bash Stamp-A-Stack

Well, the Big Birthday Bash Stamp-A-Stack, was a success!  I had a wonderful time and several ladies also came over on Saturday during the Spring Fling Crop to make the Birthday Cards since they were not able to make it the day of the Stamp-A-Stack.

To all my friends, YES, you CAN make cards from a Stamp-A-Stack at one of my monthly crops!  If you are unable to attend a Stamp-A-Stack on the day it is held, call me and let me know you would like to attend the crop and complete the Stamp-A-Stack - essentially you are RSVP'ing for the package and I'll have all the materials ready for you when you come to the crop.

Living Life! Handmade with love...

Whimsical Words:  A Heartfelt Thought!

On Thursday, Feb. 25, I found out that one of my best friends back in Minnesota was in the hospital.  Rebecca Preisler was the Maid Of Honor in my wedding.  I met Rebecca at Evergreen Community Church shortly after she started attending.  She was also part of my small group, Sonic Voltage.

She entered the hospital around Feb. 22nd when she went to the emergency room not feeling well.  During the process, the hospital admitted her to the hospital and started running various tests when they discovered she had tumors in her lungs and stomach.  Rebecca quickly started to get worse.  It was determined that she was dealing with an aggressive, quick developing Cancer.

I had a very difficult time making this card and honestly don't consider it my "best" work but the KEY is that the card comes from the HEART!  While creating the card, I was at the beach on a scrapbook retreat.  Well, I really didn't get much done on the retreat but did manage to create this card and get it mailed on Saturday.

On Wed., March 3, Rebecca passed away.  She will always be loved and cherished as a wonderful friend.  It was very difficult making this card and I didn't have a lot of time. She passed away on Wed., March 3rd after a brief 2 week struggle with cancer. This card honors Rebecca's 33 years of life!

PPA33 Color Challenge and Lots of Bots

Lots Of Bots

This past week has been really crazy at the Staples household!  On Monday, March 1, my Father-In-Law had surgery which required him to stay in the hospital for at least 5 days.  The good news is that he was able to go home over the weekend and is doing fairly well.

When I saw the Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge, PPA33, I decided I just had to play along.  I knew I needed to make a "Get Well" card for my Father-In-Law and the colors just seemed to call out to me as a great color scheme for his Get Well card!

I hope you enjoy the card!

Card Recipe:

Stamp Set:  Lots of Bots
Designer Series Paper:  Certainly Celery
Cardstock:  Certainly Celery, Kraft and Garden Green
Embellishments:  Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon, Jumbo Eyelets

Then, of course, MaCree the Kitty Cat - Pesky Kitty, insisted on adding her "Paw of Authenticity" and showcase the photo.  I think she approves, don't you agree?

Have a Sunny Day!

Stampin' Up! Convention 2010

Stampin' Up! 2010 Convention

This year the Stampin' Up! Convention 2010 is from July 21 to July 24th!  I'm really looking forward to attending my first convention.  Earlier this month, my husband asked if I wanted to attend and I said YES.  The opportunity to attend has me very excited and I've also signed up for some of the pre-convention events planned by the LateNightStampers ("LNS").  I've been told that the LNS are MUST attend events.  I wish I could attend them all, but with my husbands birthday on 7/21, I didn't want to push my luck with him (although he says he would rather skip his birthday but that is unacceptable by my standards!)

Plan to attend Stampin Up Convention 2010 with us on July 21-24, 2010

The BIG SHOT for Quilters!

A New Quilting Tool!

Yep! Did you know that the Big Shot, although not "new" is starting to pop up as a great tool for quilters?

On of the great features about the Big Shot is that it cuts through various types of materials including FABRIC!  You can quickly cut Scallop Squares using the Scallop Die in your Big Shot then sew those squares together for a traditional block quilt.  Another option is to use a variety of different Big Shot dies to create your own design.  At Leadership 2010, Stampin' Up! passed out quilted squares showcasing what you can do with the Big Shot as a quilter.

Now, as for me, my ONE foray into the quilting world was only semi-successful.  I started making a quilt about 13 years ago as a wedding gift for my Brother and Sister-In-Law, well, the quilt top is complete but no additional progress has been made!  We joke that maybe it could be a 15th or 20th or maybe a 25th Wedding Anniversary gift for my Brother and his wife.  We'll just have to see what happens.

In the meantime, I love what people have been doing with the Big Shot and fabric including the flower fold pins and Rag Purses.  I do think I'll be making a Rag Purse for myself especially since they remind me of my favorite DESIGNER purses created by Vera Bradley.

If you love to quilt or know anyone that is a quilter, I encourage you to share my BLOG with them so they can check out the free pattern being offered by Stampin' Up!  Click on the following for a FREE PDF pattern.
