Stampin' Up! Specials

Stampin' Up! has some wonderful specials this month as we start thinking about the holidays.  Check out the Holiday Gift Guide for ideas or call me so we can talk about different gift giving ideas that you can create.  Also, I'm always available to help you with ideas and creating those special gifts.

Happy Holidays!

Free Crops! Come over for some fun.

I will be hosting several free crops this month in my home.  If you are looking for an opportunity to get away so you can work on those holiday projects, this is a great opportunity!  Come on over for some girl time and get those projects completed.  Bring those card, scrapbooking, knitting, quilting or sewing projects - We have room for you!

Friday, November 6 @ 5:00 pm - Midnight Madness crop!  We will get crafty from 5pm until midnight!

Sunday, November 15 from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm - All Day Crop!  This will be a great opportunity to work on more of those projects.  I'll also be offering personal scrapbooking assistance throughout the day helping with basic layouts and designing theory!

Saturday, November 21 from 10:00 am to MIDNIGHT - All Day Crop!  Yep, HUBBY is out of town on a retreat so we will be celebrating by getting our crafty mojo on!  Come and party with me.  Kids are welcome at this all day crop and if we have enough interest, we may pitch in to hire a babysitter to help out with the younger toddlers and infants.

If you are interested in any of these free crops, please contact me ASAP to RSVP for the event.  I would also ask that you bring a food item to share with the group.  On the all day events, we may also consider ordering pizza or something if there is interest.

ALLERGY ALERT - I have 2 dogs and 1 cat!  Also, if you have the flu or a bad cold, I would ask that you not come to the crop as we have a month old infant.

A Baby Card

With so much baby stuff going on in my life at the moment I thought it was only appropriate to create a cute, yet fairly simple baby card.  This card was done for a Chat & Challenge on SUDSOL.

I hope you enjoy!

Stamp Set:  Animal Stories
Accessories:  Fire Square Brads
Designer Series Paper:  Bashful Blue
Colors:  Bashful Blue; Close to Cocoa, Certainly Celery and Pumpkin Pie

Growth Chart Fun

Do you have little ones in your home?  Or, maybe you are a Grandma that has the Grandkids visiting on a regular basis?

Wouldn't it be fun to keep track of their growth using a very cute growth chart?  Stampin' Up! has a great special going on at the moment with the Decor Elements growth chart.  If you don't want the growth chart put on the wall, put it on a large piece of decorated plywood or something similar so you can take it with you when you move.

I know I'll be getting the growth chart.  Some of you may know that my husband and I have been hoping to adopt a newborn infant.  Today, August 27th, we received a phone call that there is a birthmother that would like to meet with us in person.  We are very excited about meeting her and lift her up in prayer.  The scary part - she is DUE on September 17, 2009!  YEP...  eek!  We haven't done a THING with the nursery and, to top it off, we are going to be out of town for a week returning on Sept. 11.

But, in the meantime, I am starting to think about all the great decorating options offered by Stampin' Up! using the Decor Elements.

My New Blog Design

Wow, I can't express in enough words how excited I am about my new blog design and layout. It is absolutely beautiful and the perfect expression of who I am! I want to give a shout out to the TWO wonderful ladies that helped put everything together.

Michelle Laycock of Laycock Designs designed all the beautiful graphics from the banner to the buttons and my end of post seperator. I couldn't ask for anything better. Michelle was awesome to work with and I would recommend her services to anyone interested in a banner to the whole shebang! When I had questions about using my watermark, Michelle called me back quickly and gave me a quick tutorial over the phone. Again, thank you Michelle for the beautiful blog design.

Heather Wright-Porto put the finishing touches in place by doing the background work on the blog side of things. I have to say she has been awesome to work with as well even with a new baby addition to the family. I didn't make it easy for Heather since I added the navigational bar to my banner but she pulled it together. Again, thank you Heather for doing the end work to pull my blog together.

Now, in celebration of my new blog, I'm going to be having a little giveaway - Some Blog Candy! Details will be posted in the next few days so keep watching for what you need to do to be entered into the drawing for some BLOG CANDY!

A Christmas Medallion

I've already mentioned how much I love the Medallion Background stamp! It is just so versatile. While working on ideas to showcase just how versatile, I had the idea that a Christmas Medallion would be very beautiful.

Season's Greetings!

I'm so excited about tomorrow evenings Christmas In August Stamp-A-Stack! We will be making 14

A Rockin! Card

Rock & Roll Birthday!

Here is a card that my upline, Jen Krieger, created for a class that she offered earlier this week. I love her classes because she is so talented. My favorite element from this card is the stenciled design done in silver which just makes this card pop!

An August Christmas

Today I participated in another online Chat & Challenge. In preparation for my Christmas in August class, I decided to create a Christmas Card that I could basically use. Now, the card we make in the class will not be identical to this card but it will be similar based on the same layout.

I hope you enjoy!

Growing Up! Promo

Stampin' Up! is offering a great promo when you purchase $35.00 in the "Growing Up" section of the Stampin' Up! Catalog and receive a free package of designer buttons. During the month of August, wouldn't it be fun to start thinking about those going back to school days and start preparing for teacher gifts and kid birthday parties?

Growth Chart Limited Time Offer

This is a great limited time offer from Stampin' Up! especially if you have a young child. Children grow up so fast and wouldn't this be a fun idea for keeping track of how fast they do grow?

Wow! Deal of the Week # 5!

Who doesn't love some hearts!

The deal of the week is the Heart to Heart punch. Check it out!

Big Brother 12x12 Scrapbook Page

Well, when you have a young boy that is extremely excited about becoming a Big Brother you have to have a special page just for him! Actually, I created a 2 page layout but I'm only showing the main page of the two on this post.

Here is the page that SunnyGirlScraps created for the special "Big Brother" 12x12 scrapbook page:

Father 12x12 Scrapbook Page

Here is the beautiful 12x12 Father page that I created for the baby book that I gave as a gift to our Pastor and his wife. This is such a beautiful and stunning page for a father and his new daughter.

Mother 12x12 Scrapbook Page

Well, SunnyGirlScraps has done it again with another beautiful 12x12 scrapbook page. This is the "Mother" page that I created for the Baby Book that I gave to our pastor and his wife. This is really a beautiful page and just brings me peace especially when I think of what some photos will look like on the page.

Baby Girl 12x12 Scrapbook Page

This past weekend I attended a baby shower for our Pastor's wife. This will be their second child and they are very excited about having a baby girl. Their son who is 6 years old told his parents that he wanted a baby sister called Lydia - He made this announcement when he was 3 years old.

As a baby shower gift, I created a baby scrapbook for their little girl. Here is one of the pages that I created:

Ready for Christmas?

Well, I don't know about you but I'm definitely not ready for Christmas especially since it is still so far off in the future! But, I am starting to think about Christmas cards. Admittedly, I'm not the best about getting Christmas cards sent off to everyone that I REALLY want to send Christmas cards to and a few people always get left off the list because I run out of time. This year, I'm planning way in advance.

I'm having a Christmas In August Stamp-A-Stack to help me and a few other get ready!

To learn more about the class or to RSVP, click HERE for my Meetup.com group!

Here is a sample of a simple card that we will be doing. This was actually done for a Chat & Challenge on SUDSOL. I will probably add a few small embellishments to the final card but this gives you an idea of one set of Christmas cards that we will be creating.

Deal of the Week

Well, it is now Week 4 in the Stampin' Up! Deal of the Week offerings for the month of July. This week I have to share that I really love this deal. I love the Hodgepodge Hardware and the Styled Vanilla is absolutely beautiful. The Styled Vanilla Hodgepodge Hardware adds a very elegant touch to any project you may be working on whether it is a card, scrapbook page or 3D project.

Deal of the Week

Hey... We are on the third week of Stampin' Up! Specials. Here is this weeks special:

Housewarming Party

This evening we went to a housewarming party for some friends. The party was lots of fun and they have a really cute house. There was plenty of food and friendship.

I also had the opportunity to hold baby Sloan. Oh, she is absolutely adorable and so sweet. At one point it looked like she was going to start screaming but I've got the touch :)... She quickly settled into my arms on my lap and I was able to rock her back to sleep with her arms spread out with all the loud noises going on around her without a care in the world.

Well, I had to bring a card to my friend Amanda to congratulate her and her husband on their new home. When I made the card I used the Crushed Curry with Pumpkin Pie. I was so thrilled to find out that Amanda's favorite new In Color is the Crushed Curry. So here is the card:

Stamp Set: Circle Circus and (retired set Congrats)
Colors: Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White
DSP: Razzleberry Lemonade
Accessories: Crushed Curry Polka Dot Grosgrain (used backside!), 1 3/8 Circle Punch
Big Shot: Circles #2

Animal Stories for a Baby

WOW Watercolor!

I absolutely love to watercolor and love the look of watercolor paintings. The French Impressionist era is one of my favorite periods of Art History. The works of Claude Monet, Edouard Manet, Edgar Degas and Piere Augusta Renoir are just a few of my favorites. During my Junior and Senior years of College, I was able to squeeze an Art Minor into my busy schedule. The medium that I focused on for my art studies was watercolors.

Because of my background and love of watercoloring, this card just calls out to me. It is a beautiful technique that is actually relatively easy. There are a few different names for the technique I believe but I've been told that it is called "WOW Watercolor Technique." Regardless of what you call this technique, it does create a WOW reaction!

On July 29, I will be teaching a the WOW Watercolor Technique class. To RSVP or learn more about the class, click HERE for my Meetup.com site!

This is a very versatile card great for Wedding Cards, Mother's Day Card or a birthday card. The card is absolute elegance!

Accessories: Organza Ribbon, Oval Scallop Punch, Oval Large Punch
Big Shot: Stampin' Up! Little Leaves Sizzlit Die

Here is one of my most recent creations presented during a recent Chat and Challenge that I participated in online. I really do love this card!

This card could easily be given away as an anniversary card.

Enjoy!

Timeshare Crop! Want to crop for a WEEK at a great price?

I'm planning a "Week (end) long Crop" possibly for early December. We have a timeshare that we MUST use before January 11, 2010 and DH is short on vacation time this year so we are thinking of using our exchange for a week in Williamsburg, VA resort for scrapbooking and sightseeing. I could have 5 ladies at approx. $130.00 for the week or long weekend (without food) and it would cover the cost of the exchange. The price is NOT set in stone yet and may actually be less than $130.00 but, again, it depends on our exchange and where we end up going along with the addition of taxes.

I'm hoping to go back to Kings Creek Plantation in Williamsburg, VA. The townhouses are gorgeous with plenty of space for 6 people. Anyone interested would be welcome to come for the whole week or for the weekend.

WooHoo... Tomorrow is the Staples Adoption Crop Fundraiser!

I'm really looking forward to tomorrow. I will be hosting a fundraiser to help us raise money for our adoption fund. There are 13 ladies that will be attending. We were originally hoping for 35 to 40 scrappers but I'm happy with 13. We did exceed our minimum to cover costs and will be adding approx. $300.00 to our adoption fund. The way I look at it is that every penny helps and brings us that much closer to adopting.

There have been some great prizes donated from other friends which we will be giving out throughout the day. It has also been awesome the number of people volunteering to help setup or provide food for the day! We will enjoy our crop from 9:30 to 5:30pm... Yippee!!!

I plan to post photos from the crop later next week.

Scrapbook Pages... Samples!

Here are some samples of my scrapbook pages. Enjoy!

The theme for the scrapbook that I'm currently working on is my Honeymoon from May 2005. This was my 9th trip to Walt Disney World and my new husbands first trip. We had a wonderful time with many great memories.

These pages are made using Stampin' Up Designer Series Paper Bella Bleu and Not Quite Navy Textured Card Stock. The remaining embellishments use various Stampin' Up product and some SEI or Basic Grey products but I'm not certain which is which.

This is how the 2 page spread looks:

Scrapbook Pages...

Well, since it is the month of May and NATIONAL SCRAPBOOKING MONTH...

I've decided that I MUST post some scrapbooking pages. My husband scanned some pages for me recently and I've asked him to send me those pages which were done for our Adoption Profile. I'm also working on some other scrapbook pages which I'll be posting soon.

Keep watching! I hope to post some scrapbook pages by the end of the week.

Adoption Scrapbook Fundraiser Invitations

I've been working on invitations for my neighbors to participate in the Adoption Scrapbook Fundraiser that I'm having the end of May. These cards will be going out today - finally!

Most of the neighbors already know about the fundraiser and have committed but I really wanted to give them a nice, formal invitation. Next, I start working on all the Thank You cards to be given to everyone that attends.

So far, we have approx. 17 people attending and are hoping to double that number!

Genie Bag Housewarming Gift!

OK... I've been promising a new Genie Bag! Well, here it is.

I made this bag for a neighbor who happens to be a Realtor to give to a client at their closing just over a week ago. On Tuesday of this week, I heard from another individual that the new homeowners absolutely LOVE the bag which included a coupon for an order from me and a gift card to Lowes from the Realtor.

The best part is that the bag resulted in business, not from the couple purchasing the home but from a friend. They had shared with the friend about this beautiful gift bag and through chance circumstances, I met this friend while working at the fitness center where I work part-time and she asked for my help making cards for a Baby Shower! How awesome is that!

I really do love the way this bag turned out...

Another Genie Bag...

Well, I've created another Genie Bag which I absolutely love. It will be used by a neighbor that is a Realtor and given to her clients at closing as a "Thank You." I changed the dimensions a bit so the bag is taller and not so "square." Inside the bag, I'm including a handmade business card holder with my business card inside. It is also large enough that my neighbor can include a gift card if she so desires.

The idea is that the bag basically becomes a "Welcome Wagon" bag with various information about the community including pizza carry out along with other restaurant information and nearby services. Of course, I'm including a list of my upcoming stamp classes!

Keep watching for my posting of the bag and business card holder!

Sincerely,

Sunny Girl Pam

This past Saturday I went to a baby shower for a friend and made the "Beautiful Little Baby" card which is one of my absolute favorite cards. Then the next day it was my upline's birthday and, of course, needed a birthday card. I love the way both of these cards turned out. The colors are beautiful and I just love the layouts. Enjoy...

This past Friday, my upline celebrated her wedding anniversary so a card was needed for both her and her wonderful husband who patiently puts up with so many crafty women invading his home on a regular basis. The inspiration and design for this card came from Mojo Monday #81. Mojo Monday is quickly becoming a favorite website especially for card design patterns. I also find inspiration from Lauren Meader. Lauren has a beautiful style and her designs are always fresh as well as fun.

Here is one of my mother's day cards and I'm working on additional cards...

This is the latest 3D project that I've been working on from Stampin' Up. It is called the Scalloped Box and is very cute. The box isn't very big but fits a small bag of treats, business cards or a large pack of gum.

Genie Bag Challenge From Stampin Addicts

I saw this bag on Stampin Addicts 3D Monday Challenge and just had to give it a try. It is really cute and I love the versatility of doing this project. I'm definitely going to be doing something similar in the future for a stamp camp project.

3 New Cards

Here are the latest cards that I just completed. I'm trying to get ready for this weekend with card ideas I can do with my nieces. These are just what I've done and probably will not be what I do with the nieces. Just having fun exploring some new stamp sets that arrived yesterday.

The passing of a good family friend...

On Thursday, March 26th, 2009, a good family friend past away after a long battle with Lung Cancer. Derrold Dahl attended St. Lukes Lutheran Church along with being good friends with my dad. He worked at Northwest Airlines until he was forced to take early retirement due to the Lung Cancer. On March 25th, we had word that Derrold had received the bad news that he maybe had 4 to 6 weeks to live and we were shocked to hear that he passed away the next day. My dad was very disappointed that he could not make it back to MN for the funeral but a severe ear infection and cold kept him from being able to catch a flight back to Bloomington, MN for the funeral.

Mom was going to buy a card, but I suggested that we make handmade cards instead. Derrolds wife, Marilyn, is a crafty person and I knew she would appreciate the heartfeld meaning behind handmade cards.

These are the cards that we made...

The first card is 6x6 card that I helped my mom make using some rubber stamps that I had on hand. The cross is not Stampin' Up and the words we found in an internet search which my mom really liked which we printed on vellum with the swirl stamped pattern from the CTMH Playful Flurishes stamp set (purchased from a friend before I became a Stampin' Up Demonstrator). The pattern paper is Stampin' Up Designer Series Paper Delicate Dots.

The second card I made using exclusively Stampin' Up products:

This card is also 6x6 light tan card stock along with using the Fifth Avenue Floral as the background on the solid card stock. The bottom 1/2 strip is from the Stampin' Up Designer Series Paper Delicate Dots. The wording is from the Sincere Salutations stamp set and the frame is from the Hodgepodge Hardware in styled silver overlaid on 1/2 of the Top Note big shot die. Overlaid on top of the ribbon is a flower cutout from the Fifth Avenue Floral colored in using a blender pen to give a nice watercolor effect.

Our prayers are with the Dahl family and all the fond memories we have fishing, going to breakfast after church and good times with Derrold.

Pam

(All Stampin' Up and CTMH images are copyright of the respective companies)

Kaylee's 1st Birthday...

Well, I finally made a card for the youngest niece's 1st birthday which was on March 4th... I'm a little late! Her birthday gift will be in the mail on Monday along with her card.

On the inside, I placed a small cupcake cutout that I stamped and colored.

First Post!

WooHoo... After many months I finally have the beginnings of my scrapbook blog! It was a long process taking several months as I debated the merits of different names, eliminating names and coming up with new names. The process was painful at times and often frustrating. There were some moments where I thought I had the "perfect" blog name only to find out the name already existed in a blog or was the name of a scrapbook store that I had not previously heard of until I did some google searches - boy, was it frustrating when a name I really liked popped up.

Then, a few days ago, I was thinking about one of the nicknames I've had for a long time. Yep... you guessed it -- "Sunny" is one of my nicknames along with smiley :)... It was important that the name of my scrapbook blog be reflective of who I am in a short and sweet title. Often, people have commented on my "Sunny" disposition and joyful view of life while dealing with things like cancer and infertility. These comments along with my view of life along with my desire to live life to its fullest finding joy in all things had me leading to the idea of playing with "Sunny" as a basis for my scrapbook blog...

So, WELCOME to ...

Sunny Girl Scraps
Sincerely,
Sunny Girl Pam :)
